As part of GSK’s advanced manufacturing expansion at its state-of-the-art Boronia site, Monaco Hickey refurbished an existing workshop space, Building 103, as an impressive new laboratory and equipment bay.
This involved the alteration of part of Building 104 to create an office space and laboratory to be used for the manufacture of sterile liquid pharmaceutical products.
Demolition of an existing aerosols production facility within an existing operational environment and conversion to a new Rommelag Blow Fill Seal Manufacturing facility in support of the existing BFS operations including a fully automated packaging line.
Monaco Hickey's key achievements on this project included, demolition of the existing facility and services within a confined work space environment without disruption to existing operations.
Works also included pre-commissioning of the building envelope by installation of internal temporary walls to simulate as built conditions to accommodate late delivery of manufacturing equipment without impacting on programme after equipment installation. Careful planning allowed for provision of openings in completed walls to allow for equipment access for installation. First pass third party facility certification achieved upon handover, which was completed on time and within client budget.
